Babies First Christmas!

Santa arrived at our house with a ton of gifts for the girls! Awake by 6:30am, Payten and Emmerson were ready to see their haul. Santa dropped an entire sled full of gifts and Auntie Tiff snapped some photos of the girls and family...

Movin' on up!

After 5 lovely years -- filled with laughter, memories, and many baby items -- we have outgrown our starter home. The sale is final and we are set to move into the new place January 15...anyone wanna help??

Family Photos!

We wanted to have something special for our first family Christmas cards so we packed up the girls, camera and tripod and set off to snap some photos. The weather was cold, at -19, so we set up the equipment and ran out with the girls, snapped a photo and ran back to the car to keep them warm. Unfortunately, since we didn't have anyone catching their attention, we had quite a time trying to get them to look toward the camera. Here are a few photos that were not on our cards...

Strawberry sucks!

First attempt at strawberries in the sucker. Emme clearly not a fan...Paytie worried someone might take it away!

CAGED

Mom made a freudian slip a while ago about kenneling the girls and putting the dogs in their cribs...seems Emme really took it to heart!

Boo!

Halloween 2010 The Monkey grew ape-ish and the Strawberry wilted as the evening progressed. Finally, with Paytie in bed when daddy came home, we popped over to the neighbor's. The Strawberry was back to her happy juicy self with all of the compliments!

Swingin' Good Time!

There is a small park around the corner from our house. One we walk by almost every day. When we finally put her in the swing, Payten was enthralled and continually tried licking the handle as she set sail.

September 11, 2010

Look mom...no hands!

Emme was apprehensive about sitting in the swing. When we gave her a little push she was certainly not exuding an adventurous nature. Finally, after several minutes she lightened up and now she loves the swings!

A Father's Love

There is nothing more wonderful than witnessing that moment when a man becomes a father. A daddy. It has moved me beyond words to see that transformation in my husband with our two beautiful daughters. A more loving man does not walk this earth.

Nursery

Poor Emme will no longer have to endure Paytie eating her head or toes! The second crib finally came and the room is complete. It was hard for mommy to see the girls sleeping in separate cribs since they always seemed to sleep best touching each other. It was clear in the first few nights apart that they were tired of being crammed together!

Surprise!

Grandma Woldanski celebrated her 50th birthday AGAIN!

Bon Appetit!

The first time Emme tried her pablum (rice cereal) she was indifferent...she tasted it and, in a very casual manner, swallowed. No funny faces were made. No spitting it out. Our prized eater!

**Only a few days later she would prove us wrong by spitting everything out and eating nothing**

CHOMP...yuck!

Equipped with two teeth by four months, Paytie was fully prepared for her first bite of some real food. She made a sour face, spit it out and let us know she hated it.

**Later she would prove to be our All-Star Eater...a chip-off-the-old-block!**

Bad Hair Day

Here is another example of why you should never fall asleep when your parents are camera crazy! Poor Paytie...someday she will marry and this photo will live once again. Maybe she could wear her hair like this to the wedding?

An English Wedding

When Gerard & Erinn were married Payten cried a bit during the ceremony (for either the bride or groom) and Emme prayed for the union. Grandma & Grandpa Smith was out for a visit and babysat in the evening. It was mayhem as Payten kept them busy while she cried for hours...only when mommy & daddy rushed home to put her to bed did she stop the dramatics! Poor grandparents...hopefully she didn't scare them off!

Pouty Payten

Doin' the Worm

This is what happens when you remove one baby - now referred to as a road block - from the crib and return 20 minutes later.

Clearly Payten was trying to make an early escape from her cage!

Hitting the Bar...early!

At only 2.5 months, Emme has already mastered the art of playing with the interactive frog on her car seat bar. We were so surprised when we started hearing noises in the back seat (and they weren't of screaming kids).

Now, can you say Baby Genius?

The new babysitter

The Backyardigans and The Smurfs are Emme's new fave shows. With all of the foreign languages they teach on kids shows now, english might just be their second language! Thank goodness there is still Sesame Street and Scooby-Doo or mom & dad are gonna be in trouble!

We wanna go to DISNEYLAND!

Well, since daddy hasn't been to Disneyland we are planning the vacation for 2015. Now we just have to start the Disney fund...any donations??

Smiley face

Happy babies, happy babies! Sporting a flirty bib, Emme is sure to turn heads with her smiley faces!

Hot Shots!

On May 11th the girls celebrated their 2 month birthday (belated) with a cocktail. Payten screeched and mom cried...then Emmerson roared and mom balled...even dad got teary-eyed!

Heavy weight

In the other corner, weighing in at a whopping 10lbs 11oz, PayPay is a contender at 55.5cm tall!

Light weight

Weighing in at 10lbs, Emmerson is 55cm long!

Singin'

Emmerson sure has a lot to say and she's saying it through song (and interpretive dance moves). Oh, finally we have a rockstar in training!!

Green thumbs

Our very first trip to the greenhouse was a snore for Payten! Thank goodness Emme was wide awake and loved mom's favorite place.

Happy Easter!

The girls first Easter was a quiet event until Peter Cottontail hopped along...

Mini 'D'

Finally, Dustin has his own little (female) 'mini-me'...Payten is an exact look-a-like of her daddy when he was born.

Say Cheese!

The day of the newborn pictures was met with excitement and apprehension since we were working with our two 2-week old babies. Of course, we expected Payten to be difficult but were surprised at her uncanny ability to 'work the camera'. Her sister was not to be a fan of the camera, or flash, so she spent a fair amount of time frowning after a shot and crying before.

We soon realized that the naked babies don't stop peeing when Emmerson christened the beautiful white blanket. Over the duration of the next few hours each girl let loose many, many, many times!

We had so much fun -- Christine with Uncontained Photography is amazing and an absolute delight to work with.

Maiden Voyage

Our first family outing was to the pediatrician. Only 20 minutes late, we were impressed with ourselves that we had made such good time.

During the checkup, the doctor strongly suggested we move the babies to our room for the first month so we could sleep. What an amazing doctor -- she diagnosed our sleep deprivation and gave us a cure!

That night the girls slept 5 hours straight. Unfortunately that was to be short-lived.

Payten & Emmerson' Arrival

Born 23 minutes apart, the girls couldn't be any more different. With a full head of dark hair, Payten made her entrance into the world screaming for everyone to hear. "I'm here" she sung out!

Emmerson arrived at a slower pace and her cry to the world was more muted than her sister but still gave notice that she had made her appearance.

After a quick bout with jaundice and few days in the tanning bed, we were finally on our way home.
